| The Muscle Car Legends In 1964 Pontiac started something by dropping a high performance, large displacement engine in a mid-size car and naming it GTO. Soon the rest of the US auto makers joined the party. In a very short time even the new Pony cars were sporting big engines. In 1974 the muscle car era ended with the production of the last Super Duty Trans Am. Today these are prized collectibles. |
